Completely renovated house in amenities-filled Masthope community / Ski Big Bear

Completely renovated cozy cottage, in the middle of beautiful woodlands (deer visiting our garden every day!), lots of privacy, in an amenities-filled upscale community (with its own ski hill!).

Very comfortable with nature all around you. Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay.

3 Bedroom 2 Bathroom. Fully renovated. Spacious woodland garden, two decks, and plenty of parking. A gas barbeque is on the deck, and a fire pit is in the garden. New; working desk and chair, in combination with our excellent WIFI the perfect place for "hybrid" guests that need to work!
Bonus amenity; Dyson air purifier in living room.

Awesome House

Our stay was awesome. The house was so cozy and warm it felt like home. After a long day of snow boarding it was so nice to cozy up in bed to nice crisp clean smelling linens. We definitely recommend this house and will stay here again on our next trip. Thank you

Beautiful country escape

Met up with some close friends and their family at Hans and Natalia’s place. There was a total of 7 of us and the place was perfect for us with a good amount of space for all of us to move around and be pretty comfortable. The outdoor firepit was a very nice aspect of our stay and the kids loved seeing all of the deer moving around. Would definitely stay here again.

Great Summertime Stay

Wonderful, clean, new place! AC worked well and great WiFi! We had a great week! Owners super responsive! Love this community with pools, lake, free kayaking, river access, horse farm and tiki bar! We’ll be back!

Amazing cottage

The Flying Dutchman cottage is a great home in a great location! The place was super clean and the sheets were the softest I’ve ever felt! The owners are very responsive and helpful. This cottage is close to the big bear lodge and pool. This was our second stay at Masthope and we would choose this house again! There is a tiny creek next to the house so when you are outside you can hear running water. It’s very relaxing. This cottage was the perfect size for my family of 3 yet big enough for 2 more. I was very happy with this house and we thoroughly enjoyed our trip.

Cozy But Modern Cottage, Perfect Even in Very Cold Weather

My husband, two grown children, and our cat thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Flying Dutchman cottage! We are not skiers, but we were coming back to an area of PA we used to live in several years ago, and needed a peaceful, quiet house to spend a long pre-Christmas weekend together. The snow covered woods and the families of deer were idyllic to look at though we stayed in most of the time due to single digit temperatures a lot of the time. We stayed warm and comfortable with a thermostat in every room and two electric fireplaces. The large flat screen TV, the blanket for the sectional couch, the coffee maker, and electric kettle kept the cold nights fun and entertaining. Our cat seemed comfortable right away, running up and down the carpeted stairs and hanging with us on the couch and our beds. On the one day it was a bit warmer, the Masthope Community Lodge was warm and inviting, with festive holiday decorations and happy families of skiers. We were a bit disappointed that the tubing on the slopes did not start until the following week, but the lodge restaurant provided us with plenty of take-out food, and my daughter and I had a nice late lunch in the restaurant listening to holiday music. She and I also had fun playing air hockey and pinball in the lodge game room. My family is already talking about booking this cottage again in the summer so we can enjoy the Masthope Community pool, lake, hiking trails, and maybe even the horses!

The story of the Flying Dutchman goes back to the seventeenth century, with a ship chartered by the Dutch East India Company. The vessel achieved a real feat: the journey between the Netherlands and the island of Java in Indonesia in only three months. It was said that he flew over the sea to go so fast. Coming from just a small country, we feel as a family still have the same strong urge to explore and discover the world nowadays. We welcome you to our cottage, and hope this is a great base to explore the beauty of the Poconos!

This is just a great nature place. You will be visited by deer every day. You have all the privacy you want, while incredible amenities are just a walk or a short drive away
