About this property

Cheesman Park 2-Bed.1910 Charm W/Modern Flair. Great Location!

Location is everything and this is the best location in Denver: across the street from Cheesman Park and within walking distance of Cherry Creek, Congress Park, City Park and some of the best pubs and restaurants in Denver.

Built in 1908 and remodeled, our duplex has exposed brick, all of its original woodwork, hardwood floors, and transom windows. It boasts high ceilings and tall windows with lots of natural light. We are modern where it counts: a TV with cable and DVR; free Wi-Fi with a desk area in the living room. The kitchen features granite countertops and stainless appliances; newly remodeled and charming bath with updated systems throughout.

There is a wonderful covered porch with comfortable seating, perfect for an afternoon glass of wine as it gets great southwest sunshine. The back patio area contains a comfortable seating area, dining area with gas grill. It is the perfect spot for morning coffee, as it is flooded with morning sun.

Both bedrooms are outfitted with brand-new pillowtop queen beds; the sofa in the living room is comfortable enough for one to sleep on as well. Plenty of storage space, including a wine rack and pantry.

The Walkscore is 94 and Denver's weather really lets you take advantage of it. The walking/jogging trails at Cheesman are superb and beautiful. We're six blocks from City Park with its Zoo,Natural History Museum, and lake with boat rentals. Liks Ice Cream is just steps away. For the adult in you, we're within four blocks of the Denver Botanical Gardens, steps away from Wyman's Pub, and within walking distance of the myriad coffee shops, restaurants and shopping on 12th Street and in Cherry Creek.

Keywords: high-end remodel; great walkscore near parks, shopping, restaurants; sleeps 4; monthly rentals

Cheesman Park!

We thoroughly enjoyed our month long stay at this rental. The unit was plenty large enough for two (or four) of us, was well stocked (we cooked and grilled at home often) and the location was great. We fell in love with Cheesman Park and spent many hours walking and enjoying the energy there. When we weren't at the park we could walk, or take the 10 bus downtown to visit the wonderful art museums and public art displays. I would, however, warn that it is an OLD house that is a little tired (some cracked tiles, squeaky floors). It is also a duplex and the neighbors presence was felt. That being said, we would stay here again.

Great Denver House

The house was exactly as advertised on line. Great. Location was great, walking to many places in Denver. The owner was very responsive to questions and checked in to see how the stay was going. Would strongly recommend staying here.

Great central location

Barbara’s duplex was a great home base for our visit to Denver. The house is equipped with most everything you need. We especially appreciated the fenced back yard for our dog and the lovely covered deck and grill area to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening. Barbara is an excellent host. She was super responsive and kind.

Comfortable stay in a great location.

We were in this duplex for a month and couldn't have been more pleased. We were a half block from beautiful Cheeseman Park and in lovely Capital Hill. It is convenient to restaurants, coffee shops, groceries, and great ice cream. The hostess is wonderful communicator and the house is well equipped. There is comfortable outdoor furniture in the back space and a large grill. Although a duplex, the main side is occupied by permanent owners who were friendly and very quiet. This place is highly recommended.

We live in Norman, Oklahoma, where Dennis is an instructor with the FAA and Barbara owns the retail store Antique Garden. We decided to purchase a home in Denver to make it more convenient to visit our son and his family. Over the last few years we have fallen in love with Denver. We appreciate the climate, and we love to bike and hike. We were looking specifically for a home in an area that would be bicycle and pedestrian-friendly. We found that and a lot more as well: we love great places to eat and shop and we're within biking distance of countless great little local shops and restaurants. This area is so walkable that we often don't rent a car at all while we're here. We have met many great locals and across the street at Cheesman Park. We look forward to our visits and can't wait to get back. We hope you will feel the same way.

Why they chose this property

Denver is a vibrant and growing city with a young and adventurous population. The weather is (usually) superb with lots of sunshine. It's close to so much: skiing, hiking, snowboarding, biking, etc. But what has been a pleasant surprise is all that Denver has to offer by itself. Whether it's learning to rock climb at the REI flagship store, shopping at great little places like ReVampt and Posh, or eating at superb restaurants: there's always something fun to do. The art museum, the nature museum, the zoo, the public library, Tattered Cover, the Botanic Gardens - all areplaces to visit in Denver. The extensive system of bike lanes is another part of Denver we love.

What makes this property unique

Our favorite routine is to have our morning coffee on the back patio in the sun. We may walk to nearby Dazbog coffee on 12th for some espresso and for their sunny patio, or Zorba's for a great breakfast. If we're car-less, we may Uber for some errands around town, or we will simply bike to Cherry Creek North for lunch at Piatti. Afternoon is for wine on the front porch and another bike around Cheesman Park. If our grandchildren are with us, we spend time at the playground at Cheesman as well. For dinner, we enjoy grilling and having dinner on the patio when weather permits. We have a great nightly ritual of Liks Ice Cream - my favorite is Jack Daniels Chocolate Chip and Den's is blackberry yogurt.
