We had a lovely stay at the Rose Cottage. The host was accommodating and the place was clean. We brought our dog and the host had waste bags, water bowls, etc which was very nice. The layout is a little funky but it was totally fine with us since it was just me and my boyfriend. The location was great for us since we don’t love the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor all the time. The distance to Thurston’s was also awesome. We would stay again :)

Cute house! Very spacious, yet cozy and comfortable. Loved that the host stocked water and plenty of household/kitchen essentials to use while we stayed. The yard, bonfire and grill were all great for traveling with my dog and young family. The location is also awesome - we personally love the quiet side of the island, and Thurstons (the BEST lobsters) is a short walk down the street. A quick drive to SW Harbor and 30 to downtown Bar Harbor for other great food and ofc the amazing hiking options. While this home was perfect for me, my husband, our dog and baby, I probably would not stay here with other couples and/or family members unless you’re extremely close - the layout upstairs is a bit funky, and you have to walk through the other bedrooms in order to use the one bathroom. There were also some rules posted in the house around dogs that were not in the listing (i.e. crating, etc). We were a little anxious about that upon arrival, but turned out to be fine.Besides that, really great rental option for the cost!

Our stay was awesome! The house was equipped with everything you could have needed and more! The host said we were welcome to anything in the kitchen pantry and any laundry supplies. The host texted us daily asking if we needed anything and was so gracious about information leading to our trip to Acadia National Park and local interests.

Acadia National Park trip

We lived our stay in Bernard! The house was clean and updated! The tiny harbor town was quiet and quaint! We loved Thurston’s Lobster House and it was in walking distance. Close to the Park and trailhead’s! It was such a great place to visit!

Perfect for our family. A well stocked farm house with great outdoor space. Robbin is a very responsive host. You do have to walk through bedrooms to enter or exit and use the bathroom on the second floor. Great location on a quiet harbor on the quiet side of Mt. Desert Island.

Cool house. Lots of space. The bedrooms were all connected on the top floor though so we definitely woke each other up for the bathroom and to go downstairs when the kids woke up or to let the dogs out.

Great Spot for Family Vacation!

Had a great time with extended family! Perfect location - close to everything on MDI. Loved the deck and fire pit area. Ended every day with s’mores. Everything was clean and well stocked. Plenty of dishes, towels, toiletries, etc. Be sure to walk down to Thurston’s for dinner one night!

Beautiful home-away-from-home

This beautiful and extremely comfortable home is in the small and quiet village of Bernard. The house is very well stocked and provides an excellent night’s sleep. The wharf and an adorable library are just a 5 minute walk away. The house is 30 min from Bar Harbor and 10 minutes past SW Harbor but near delicious lobster, trails (Wonderland & Ship Harbor), and Bass Harbor Light House. The house is so welcoming and a great place to relax after a day of hiking and exploring.

Great property

We had a great time staying here! The layout was a bit odd (some bedrooms required walking through other bedrooms for access) but that’s to be expected with a historic home. Basic necessities in the kitchen (coffee, powdered creamer, seasonings) which was a nice bonus. The location is close to popular trailheads at Acadia and Bar Harbor to make day trips a breeze. House was clean and tidy. Would absolutely stay here again!

Thank you so much for great review. Yes, the house is a historic home. We have totally updated the entire house down to the studs. We added the back staircase access to help with bedroom layout. The house sleeps 11 people great for family gatherings. We allow families to have parties of 25 or so for daytime events. The back yard and wraparound porch great party house. Host Robbin

Stay at Rose Cottage

Beautiful home! Layout is unusual in that you have to walk through 1 bedroom to get to the next. But, there are plenty of places to sleep. Robbin was a.great host. Backyard is great for roasting marshmallows, playing games, etc. Our family had a wonderful stay!

Quiet Side Home

The home was very nice. I would stay here again. My wife enjoyed the detailed attention to authentic New England decor. Very clean. There’s so much to do in Acadia, I wish we could have spent more time at the property enjoying the house and the comfortable outdoor space. Definitely recommend.
