The space
Tall Peak Chalet is a newly renovated, loft-style cabin set on a 1-acre wooded lot in Gerrardstown, West Virginia. High ceilings and an open floor plan fill the living area with natural light by day and warmth by night. The living room centers around a wood-burning fireplace, creating a comfortable gathering space for conversation, games, or a quiet movie evening. WiFi and a smart TV support streaming and video calls, with a note that service can be slower or spotty due to the remote setting.
Sleeping arrangements
The chalet comfortably sleeps up to 10 guests across three bedrooms. Upstairs, the loft features a king bedroom tucked beneath the peaked ceiling. On the main level, two bedrooms each include queen over queen bunk beds. Bed linens, extra pillows, and blankets are provided to keep everyone comfortable through nights.
Bathroom & Laundry
There is one full bathroom with bathtub and bathroom essentials. A washer and dryer are available, making longer stays easy to manage.
Kitchen & dinning
The fully stocked kitchen includes everything you need to cook and share meals indoors, with a dedicated dining table nearby. Morning coffee pairs naturally with the quiet forest views, while evenings lend themselves to simple, home-cooked dinners and board games.
Outdoor living
Step onto the wraparound deck to grill, soak in the hot tub, or take in the wooded surroundings. The private backyard opens to a spacious yard with a natural stream just behind the house.
Family & pet-friendly features
The chalet is pet-friendly and well-suited for families, with children’s books and toys, board games, and children’s dinnerware available. A private entrance, free parking on the premises, and self check-in via lockbox make arrivals simple and flexible.
Pet Policy
We’re happy to welcome dogs to join you on your getaway! Please note that due to allergies, we’re unable to accommodate cats. A $29 pet fee applies per furry friend, per night to help cover additional cleaning and care. Thanks for understanding—we look forward to hosting you and your pup!
Longer Stays
For stays of 14 nights or longer, guests will be asked to e-sign a rental agreement prior to arrival. This agreement helps us comply with local requirements while protecting the property, and will be sent in advance for review.
The area
Tall Peak Chalet is a short drive from Berkeley Springs, Harpers Ferry, and Winchester, offering access to local shops, restaurants, breweries, hiking trails, and seasonal outdoor activities. Whether you spend your days exploring or staying close to home, the setting offers a peaceful balance of nature and comfort.
Note
Our cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, but due to the natural setting, you may still notice some leaves, pollen, or similar—especially during certain seasons. We appreciate your understanding as nature tends to leave its mark, no matter how often we tidy up!
Wi-Fi is included, though due to the remote location it can occasionally be slower or spotty. We recommend downloading any important content in advance so you can fully relax and enjoy your stay.
We often take our three little kids and dog to the chalet with us, so we're very family and dog-friendly.

The house has real potential, but also has real problems. It needs some maintenance in a major way. The toilet won’t flush. The faucet in the bathtub fell off. The grill had not been cleaned in so long that it broke out into a fire. When communicated these problems with the host, the response was I’m sorry for the inconvenience. We will have our handyman fix it after you leave. Frankly, I wanted it fixed while we were there. They also did not provide the necessary materials for cleaning dishes. There was no way to plug the sink and no dishtub and no scrubby and no dish towels. we purchased these items ourselves just so we could use the kitchen.this is all a real shame because the beds were very comfortable. The house had a nice fire pit and decks. The furniture was adequate. It just needed some major maintenance.
Thanks again for staying with us. We’d love to welcome you back anytime. :)
About the host
Hosted by Tony Cappaert
I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.
Why they chose this property
We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and this cabin in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
