The Space:

Steam rises from the hot tub while the fire pit crackles nearby, inviting you to unwind after a day of exploring. Inside, high ceilings and an open floor plan fill the living area with natural light, creating a warm, inviting space for family or friends to gather.

Sleeping arrangements

The loft‑style chalet comfortably sleeps up to 10 guests across three bedrooms. Upstairs, a king bedroom is tucked beneath the peaked ceiling, offering a spacious retreat. On the main level, two bedrooms each feature queen over queen bunk beds, perfect for kids or extra guests. All bed linens, extra pillows, and blankets are provided for cozy nights.

Bathroom & Laundry

One full bathroom includes a bathtub and bathroom essentials. A washer and dryer are available, making longer stays and winter gear easy to manage.

Kitchen & Dining

The fully stocked kitchen holds everything you need to prepare meals, from morning coffee to hearty dinners. A dedicated dining table sits nearby, framed by quiet forest views, ideal for sharing meals and board games. A smart TV and WiFi support streaming and video calls, though service can be slower or spotty due to the remote setting—downloading content in advance is recommended.

Outdoor Living

Step onto the wraparound deck to grill, soak in the hot tub, or simply breathe in the wooded surroundings. The private backyard opens to a spacious yard with a natural stream just behind the house. Even in cooler months, the fire pit provides a welcoming spot to roast s’mores and gaze at the clear night sky.

Family & Pet Friendly

The chalet welcomes families and pets, offering children’s books, toys, and dinnerware. A private entrance, free on‑site parking, and self check‑in via lockbox make arrivals simple and flexible. Pets are allowed, and the pet‑friendly policy is clearly stated.

The Area

Located on a one‑acre lot in Gerrardstown, West Virginia, Tall Peak Chalet is a short drive from Berkeley Springs, Harpers Ferry, and Winchester. Nearby you’ll find shops, restaurants, breweries, hiking trails, and seasonal outdoor activities. After a day of adventure, return to the quiet stillness of the woods for a relaxing mountain escape.

A cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, though you may still notice leaves, pollen, or similar natural touches—part of the authentic woodland experience.

The house has real potential, but also has real problems. It needs some maintenance in a major way. The toilet won’t flush. The faucet in the bathtub fell off. The grill had not been cleaned in so long that it broke out into a fire. When communicated these problems with the host, the response was I’m sorry for the inconvenience. We will have our handyman fix it after you leave. Frankly, I wanted it fixed while we were there. They also did not provide the necessary materials for cleaning dishes. There was no way to plug the sink and no dishtub and no scrubby and no dish towels. we purchased these items ourselves just so we could use the kitchen.this is all a real shame because the beds were very comfortable. The house had a nice fire pit and decks. The furniture was adequate. It just needed some major maintenance.

I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.

Why they chose this property

We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and this cabin in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
