Nice house. I would have liked to have lamps in the downstairs bedrooms. All we had were overhead lights. There were no plugs in the kitchen sink for washing dishes. Bathtub was very slick. A handrail into the front door would be a great safety feature.
This was such an adorable place to stay. The house was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and we loved the appliances. The host was always very quick to respond when we reached out, which was a huge bonus. We were within walking distance to downtown shopping and restaurants (about a 15-minute walk), and a short walk to the lake. Great location!
The location was perfect. 10 min walk into town. The house was fine. The back porch is a nice place to drink coffee in the morning and listen to the birds. 4 Sisters Bakery, 5 min walk, is not to be missed.

Thanks again for staying with us. We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay with and were able to explore our charming town of Black Mountain. Four Sisters Bakery is one of our favorites too. Absolutely must try their cheddar bisquits!!!!
the owners were so thoughtful with this home, labeling the cabinets, providing shampoo/conditioner/soap in the shower, a coffee station with mugs, tea and coffee, a basket with dog bowls, games in the living room. For an older home, they did a fantastic job making it a nice place to stay in Black Mountain. The lake is walking distance from the house and there is a lovely trail around the lake with places for kids to play and a beautiful place to take pictures. The house is on a fairly busy road and when parking the back of your car is right next to that road so just keep an eye on your animals and kids. No fault of the owners, just the way it is,
Wonderful house with so many thoughtful details and an excellent host!

We're disappointed by this review, especially since no concerns were ever communicated during the stay.
The reservation was made for 2 guests with no pets.
Our exterior security camera documented 6 guests and 2 dogs staying overnight. When we reached out, we were told there were no dogs staying at the property, despite clear evidence to the contrary. We happily welcome pets and only charge a modest $50 pet fee to cover our cleaner's additional costs, but we chose NOT to pursue the fee in an effort to avoid conflict. Also the guest checked in over an hour before our published check-in time without requesting approval. Fortunately, our cleaner had already finished, so again we chose NOT to make an issue of it.
At checkout, the guest messaged that they had followed the checkout instructions and that "all is well," with no indication that anything was wrong. Days later, they left a vague 2-star review stating only "not up to our standards." That is completely inconsistent with their communication throughout the stay and after checkout.
We encourage future guests to review our many other reviews, which more accurately reflect the experience we consistently provide.
Inside was nice and the back porch made it! Parking was not ideal. We had to pass the place several times to figure out how to park our truck and small trailer. We were able to leave our trailer elsewhere and it was still hard to get just the 4Runner in the space. Knowing the parking situation would have changed our rental. The outside of house wasn’t as kept as the inside. We weren’t sure we were at the right place. Once inside it was very nice and clean. Cool air kept us very comfortable. The kitchen is very small if you plan to cook any meals it might be difficult. Well stocked though. Overall a 4 out of 5.
Love this place! Cozy home with all the essentials. It had so many unique pieces that made the house feel like stepping back in time. Brass features, large tub sink, old style stove, beautiful wood floors. But it had many great new additions, good heating, secure locks, TVs and lots of outlets. The host was so nice and prompt with messages. We loved our stay and it was close to lake tomahawk and downtown.
This property is so convenient to downtown. Even though the house is older, it was very clean with upgrades and the beds were comfortable. The house is quite pet friendly but be aware that the the large beautiful yard is not fenced and the house sits right on the road. Parking was probably the greatest challenge. The pad can accommodate two mid sized cars. With some creativity we were able to park our 4 Runner and a friend's Camry there. The house is well stocked and the labels on the cabinets and drawers made it easy to locate items. All rooms have air-conditioning and they kept the house cool on some of the hottest days Black Mountain has seen. Caylin was so responsive to questions that I had and I really appreciated that. The house is located within reasonable walking distance to both downtown and Lake Tomahawk. Thanks for sharing your property.

Thank you so much for the wonderful review! We're so glad you enjoyed the home's convenient location, comfortable beds, and the little touches like the labeled cabinets and well-stocked kitchen. We also appreciate you mentioning the parking and unfenced yard, as that information can be very helpful for future guests traveling with pets. It was a pleasure hosting you, and we're happy we could quickly answer your questions during your stay. We'd love to welcome you back the next time you're visiting Black Mountain! Safe travels!
The home was very clean and comfortable and had a few extra amenities I wasn't expecting, which was nice. You couldn't ask for a better location to walk to the lake or to downtown. The host was very responsive when I had a question. My husband and I would definitely consider staying at this home/location again in the future.
Didn't receive the check in information from VRBO even double-checked app online but couldn't find anything. Luckily Caylin was very responsive and helpful. Location was excellent and kitchen nicely stocked. Window air units kept us cool although a bit loud. Great location. Definitely recommend.
