About this property
Quaint Historic Apartment in Walkable Downtown #5
My historic building was built in the 1950's and has clean character and ambiance. Walking distance to Whole Foods/Publix, fabulous restaurants, diverse shopping options, performance theaters, movie theaters, nightlife, public transport, boat/water activity rentals, parks, spas, and a short distance to the beach or airport. You’ll love my place. It is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers. I have lots of regulars who come back time and time again.
The unit is decorated beautifully with great attention to detail. It is clean and feels like home with amenities needed to stay a night, week or month. The bed is a queen sized adjustable bed. The floors are original hardwood with area rugs and the bathroom and kitchen are tiled. There is TV and internet. We provide linens and towels and amenities in the kitchen. The location is in the southern area of downtown, safe and secure, nestled between high-end historic neighborhoods Laurel Park, Palm Avenue and Hudson Bayou. Great restaurants, shopping, spas, theaters, convenience market all in neighborhood and just blocks away from Bayfront Marina, boating, parks, performance theaters, comedy club, Main Street and other amenities such as transportation, government and super markets.
The Burns Square area is a unique historic area, When the downtown was designed the building marked the entrance into downtown from the wealthier residential section of Sarasota. First Street was located here in the 1920's and a train ran down S. Pineapple Avenue. It was designed by the same architect that designed John Ringling's home and the Sarasota Court House, Dwight Baum. Most of the original character is still to be found in the building.
There are several restaurants, lots of space, shopping, bike rentals, yoga studio, and an independent movie theater - the Burns Court Cinema right in the neighborhood. This is the nicest and safest mixed-use neighborhood in the city, historic buildings, south of Main Street and nestled between historic high-end Laurel Park neighborhood, Palm Avenue and Hudson Bayou with unique shops, restaurants, spas, independent movie theater or Hollywood 20 five blocks away, close to Whole Foods or Publix food shopping. Close to beautiful walking routes, parks, botanical gardens, and transportation to both Siesta Key or Lido Key beaches.
We live on-site in an apartment in the front of the building so let us know if you need anything or a change of towels. We will help as we can. There is a Sarasota Visitor Center in walking distance that has TONS of brochures and ideas of things to do while you visit Sarasota. While we provide some brochures in the room, they have ALL of them - Visitor Center, 1710 Main St, Sarasota, FL 34236.

About the host
Hosted by Denise Kowal

I love to work and improve this historic property and live in one of the apartments. I am working to turn it into a full B&B. I am involved in the Chalk Festival, the world's most important pavement art festival that takes place in November. I love healthy living, traveling, reading and the arts.
