About the host
Hosted by Kim Stave
My husband Andrew & I always dreamed of buying a home where we could create a beautiful space for hosting & growing our family’s roots in a local neighborhood. After an incredible decade-long adventure in Eastern Europe where our 3 kids were born, our dreams were fulfilled with the purchase of the main house next to the Bungalow, which was the house’s original garage built in 1940. At the time, we were both transitioning our careers - Andrew as a contractor & me as an interior designer, so transforming the Bungalow (& surrounding yard) into what it is today was our collective dream project...and we're still working on the rest of the house!
We've been hosting guests since 2020 & feel honored & grateful for the opportunity to provide a home away from home for so many people while traveling to Portland. While we give you privacy, we love to say hello & welcome you in person when it works out to do so!
We truly look forward hosting you at the Bridgetown Bungalow!

Why they chose this property
Our home & the connected Bungalow have bus stops going east/west just steps from our front door, making navigating our city via public transport a breeze.
We also love the community focus of our Montavilla neighborhood, which our home is situated in the north end of. It's a diverse of community of folks who care deeply about the wellbeing of the city & of one another, which is obvious in places like the neighborhood's downtown stretch on NE Stark street, a bustling hub representing the heart of the eastside of Portland perfectly. We have annual street fairs in the summer & a Christmas tree lighting in the winter, there is a classic movie theater showing both first-run & old movies that sells pizza slices from a neighboring joint and beer from a neighboring brewery. The street offers a board game store, lots of unique shops, a vegan bakery, fabulous restaurants renown through the city, an international grocer, a local lumberyard and our farmer's market open every weekend.
But even closer is the ever-developing Glisan street where new cafes or shops seem to be popping up monthly, but we still can't get enough of the staples of the amazing East Glisan Pizza, Blank Slate cocktail bar, Futura Coffee Shop, Fressen German Bakery, and the Rocket Empire Machine food pod.
We also love our close proximity to Sandy Boulevard to the north, loaded with character so many great food & beverage options.
If you are coming to the Pacific Northwest to enjoy nature, we have so many great options nearby that we love! If golf is your thing, the beautiful Rose City Park golf course & neighboring Rose City Park are about a half mile away. Just slightly further is the Rocky Butte lookout which provides amazing views, and Portland's famous extinct volcano, Mt. Tabor, offers loads of activity from trails to tennis to picnic areas to a dog park to just a beautiful nature area and more amazing views.
