We rented this house during the last week of August and loved it. It was spacious and clean and the host was lovely. I was able to contact her with any concerns. We loved walking to the nearby pond (not handicapped accessible in case your husband has a walker like mine) and listening to the owls hoot in the woods after dinner. The location was excellent being halfway between Damariscotta and New Harbor where we walked the Pemaquid Loop every day. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking too. One thing to know is that the TV is upstairs- which is fine for most families and the internet worked well too. Also- some sap fell on the top of our car overnight - which was easily removed using hand sanitizer- so you should park away from the trees.

Awesome place

This cabin style house was perfect for us and our grandchildren. Just minutes from the beach and restaurants. House was very clean and very well stocked. It is in the woods in a very quiet neighborhood. We thought it was perfect.

Lovely Maine Long Weekend

I stayed here with friends for a local wedding. The home was very cute and well-kept. It is in a great location, making it an easy drive to towns in multiple directions. Our only negative was that we had to take all trash with us and because we left on a Sunday, the local transfer station was closed, so we had to drive for a while with our trash in the car.

Lovely getaway

This property was perfect for our mini vacation. it is charming, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The location is ideal for day trips to New Harbor, Damariscotta, and Round Pound. It was very quiet and afforded a lot of privacy. We loved the pond, even though it was too cold for swimming when we were there. The host was very responsive. Will definitely be back!

The cabin is cozy and we found it comfortable. However, I was surprised the beds were not made. The owner claims her preference was to leave folded sheets at the bottom of the bed for the client to make the bed. I find this quite unusual for a rental property; and, I believe, it sets the wrong tone for a vacation visit. In addition, the client is required to remove trash to a transfer station (a distance away) on departure (in our case, the station was closed on departure day). I also find this quite unusual. It would seem reasonable that both the above should be included and part of the departure cleaning service’s responsibility. The owner stated the main area ceiling fan was only partially working (on setting “1” only, as they hadn’t got around to fixing it). For a summer rental with no A/C, it would seem this should be priority issue for repair even in Maine during the summer.

Wonderful Last Minute Booking

We stayed for three nights and I wish it could've been for an entire week! This home was very comfortable for our family of five. My two daughters (under the age of ten) thought the loft sleeping arrangement was the "best". It was a peaceful setting and I enjoyed my morning coffee on the screened porch everyday! The house felt brand new! I appreciated the ceiling fans in every room. In years past, our rentals have typically had a "lake view", but the short walk to Calf Island was not a problem. Sandy was a very gracious host...I wish we had gotten to meet you!

Wilderness Home

They need to install a culvert at the base of the driveway up to the house where it’s washed out and dangerously jagged rocks could damage a car or tires. The deck is seriously in need of power washing to remove mildew and lesson slips & falls, especially when it’s wet or after rain. The screen doors on the porch don’t fit tight, so the door latches don’t catch or lock, so critters could get in. Listing says there is access to a pond and island, but no information was provided regarding where it is and how to get to it.

Delightful "Cottage In The Pines"

We usually look for places closer to the water, but this place gave us a whole new perspective of vacationing in Maine. I always think BUGS when in the woods, but not only was there a spacious screened in porch, we were able to hang out on the open deck and enjoy morning coffee while the sun rose in the sky. Yes, there were mosquitoes, but we did find times when it was tolerable to be outside -- albeit with protection -- and not get chased indoors. We took the short jaunt to Boyd Pond, went for a swim, got sprinkled lightly by a passing shower, borrowed the owners' kayaks, and enjoyed the feeling of being there all alone -- nobody else was on that pond while we were there... Inside the cottage we found everything we needed. The Internet was spotty, though. Don't know if anything can be done about that... We enjoyed Pemaquid Beach almost every day -- a true gem. It was only a short drive to many new (for us) dining venues. We enjoyed a river cruise on an oyster boat down the Damariscotta River and also a day trip to Monhegan Island on a glorious summer day. We highly recommend this cottage in the pines...

Peaceful, Quiet and Cozy

We booked two weeks here as a much needed get away. The cabin is clean and well maintained. We used it both as a place to relax as well as a home base for trips along the coast. It’s the woods are lovely. We saw the trees go from green to red, yellow and orange during our stay. Chickadees were peeping in the trees and we watched a flock of turkeys amble through the yard one morning. We cooked many of our meals in the well stocked kitchen. The screened in porch was very nice and it was handy to have washer and dryer. The gas stove in the living room was perfect for the chilly evenings. The only thing that would have made it better was more comfortable seating from which to relax ands watch the flames. Damariscotta is nearby with an organic grocery Co-op, restaurants, shops and an amazing Pumpkin Fest. We also visited nearby Pemaquid lighthouse, Bristol Nature Trail and Pemaquid beach. The cabin is out of the way yet centrally located for day trips north and south along the coast. We visited Boothbay Harbor Botanical Gardens, the Maritime Museum in Bath, Portland Museum of Art, Rockland Breakwater lighthouse, and even went up to Acadia one day. All in all we have a wonderful time and appreciated the care put into making the cabin so welcoming.

Cozy & Peaceful

I arrived in the middle of a late March snow storm! After harrowing driving conditions, it was a relief to enter a very warm and cozy cottage in the woods at Boyd Pond. The gas stove was lit and made the cottage warm and inviting. The chairs around the stove were very comfortable. the kitchen was well-stocked with all you need to cook and eat a great meal. The owners were available at a moments notice, and were very helpful with answers to my questions. All in all, I look forward to my next stay at Boyd Pond. I have been coming to Lincoln County for 25 years, and this location was a great surprise.

My husband and I grew up in Worcester, MA and lived most of our lives in the Massachusetts area. When our children 'flew the nest' we decided to move to New Hampshire, which is where we currently reside. We have always wanted a home in Maine.

Why they chose this property

We found this wonderful property in Bristol many years ago and were finally able to build our dream home as well as a comfortable smaller version for our children to use. We decided to open up our lovely smaller property to renters who could enjoy the peace and serenity of the area as well as the many activities available in the spring, summer and fall.

What makes this property unique

Centrally located to many attractions in the mid-coast area.
