Stone Edge - North Cottage

STONE EDGE is a beautiful & tranquil property set in a lovely garden located in a prime position close to the Botanical Gardens, "The Mill" & Castlemaine Town.
The property consists of a main cottage & two beautiful sandstone cottages "North" & "South". These two can be let out separately or together. Both cottages have super comfy king size beds & each is unique in character.

The North Cottage features a luxurious spa bath in the bathroom and a gorgeous sandstone fireplace in the living room. Perfect for those cooler months. A fully equipped kitchen and gas stove makes this cottage ideal for longer stays or a foodies weekend. A large private courtyard flows from the bedroom.

The South Cottage features a beautiful sandstone fireplace in the bedroom. Enjoy sitting by the fire or snuggling into bed. Relax in a huge roman style shower in the bathroom. The cosy living space has a kitchenette & outdoor courtyard to enjoy.

Fireplaces are closed from Dec to March over the summer months and reopen again in April.

From STONE EDGE a 20 min stroll through the renowned Botanical Gardens takes you to "The Mill Castlemaine". Wander the eclectic Vintage Bazaar, check out Platform No.5 for recycled furniture & goods, and enjoy a meal at the cafe & coffee roastery. Visit the Brewery & Taproom for an ale or cider or Boomtown Co-operative winery, or simply enjoy a gelato at "Icecream Social". Visit "The Bridge" or "The Railway" for a good local pub meal.

From STONE EDGE drive into the centre of Castlemaine.... 3 minutes away.... to explore more cafes, restaurants, pubs, shops, galleries & the Restorers Barn. Alternately walk via the botanical gardens which takes around 35 minutes. There is also a fantastic information centre in town. Here you will learn about the rich history of Castlemaine & the Goldfields region & get local knowledge on the best places & towns to explore during your stay.

A weekend place to stay.

A delightful place to stay for a weekend, week or a month. Jackie and David were lovely and the cottages were beautifully presented. At 2 km from town its a short stroll through the botanical gardens to get to the city centre. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Great place to stay in Castlemaine

We had a relaxing weekend stay in the gorgeous North Cottage. Loved the history of the building , the furnishings and the private courtyard. Yummy breakfast supplies included. Jackie and David are wonderful hosts. Would highly recommend staying at Stone Edge!

Lovely spot

Really enjoyed our two night stay at this lovely little cottage just on the outskirts of Castlemaine. A pleasant 20-30 minute stroll to The Mill for coffee and another 10-15 minutes into town for lunch.The wood fire and ample breakfast provisions provided by Jackie were a bonus. Highly recommend.

Very comfortable beautifully restored original stone cottage with modern amenities and open fireplace. A peaceful location just to the north of Castlemaine. 4 minutes drive to the town centre. Welcoming hosts and very generous breakfast provisions. Highly recommended.

Stone Edge - North Cottage

We had a lovely stay at the cottage. Jackie and David were very helpful with lots of tips about things to do and see in the area. The cottage was quaint, comfortable and cosy with a lovely fireplace. And to top it off Jackie had left fresh produce in the fridge for breakfast. Our four nights was perfect! Thank you Jackie and David.

Just lovely

We were very impressed with the gorgeous little cottage. The hosts had thought of everything. Even mozzie spray. There was an abundance of food for breaky. And the fireplace was cozy. We saw Kangaroos and beautiful birds. Loved it ❤️

Cosy Stone Cottage

We really enjoyed our stay at Stone Edge, a country stay close to beautiful Castlemaine. The hosts were very friendly and informative. The beautifully presented cottage had all the modern amenities because it had been renovated, but it still had the feel of a cottage from the 1800s. We particularly loved the shower and spa, and fireplace with wood provided. Best of all, were the generous provisions left for breakfast, with a full-size fridge and very well equiped kitchen. We also really enjoyed seeing the kangaroos in the morning. We would love to return sometime.

Peaceful Getaway

We were made to feel very welcome by Jackie and David at this comfortable stone cottage on the outskirts of the town centre. It was clean and comfortable with a plentiful supply of breakfast provisions and good quality firewood. We enjoyed the open fire in the evenings which added to the lovely ambience. We also enjoyed the peaceful garden setting, visited by blue wrens and silver eyes.

Winter retreat

Jackie & David are fantastic hosts. We originally planned our stay in 2020, but due to circumstances beyond our control (COVID19 lockdowns), and 3 reschedules, we have just had a wonderful week at Stone Cottages. Thank you to Jackie & David for being so understanding. North Cottage is beautifully presented & has everything needed for a relaxing getaway, especially the generous sized spa. Plenty of breakfast supplies, fresh fruit & veg, with a well appointed kitchen. Lovely quiet surroundings just a few minutes into town for supplies. A gorgeous fireplace with plenty of wood on hand for cozy evenings. The bed is super comfy for a great nights sleep, or an afternoon nap. We will definitely be back for more.

Very relaxing stay at North Cottage

Thank you David and Jackie for being excellent hosts. We had a fabulous getaway, and it was all we hoped for. Lovely open fire, cosy and gorgeous decor, amazing spa bath for two! The little touches from world music, to a wonderful selection of breakfast goodies, was really appreciated!
