Amazing view
Excellent location, not suitable for anyone with difficulty going uphill.
Very well equipped, but carpets and furniture need to be refreshed, as very musty odour that clears when windows open.
Parking off road but slightly awkward access
Overall good stay

Lovely accommodation, wonderful views.
Englefield is the perfect place for a self-catering holiday on the Isle of Wight. The accommodation is superb and regularly updated (we have stayed there for several holidays) and has everything you need for a lovely, relaxing break. The bungalow overlooks the sea and we spend a long time identifying the many boats that sail past. The town of Ventnor is just a walk away, with several good places to eat. Bonchurch Inn is close by and the food there is excellent.

Fantastic Property
I've rented holiday homes on the island for many years and thisnis absolutely my favourite.
It's a great size for 6 people, perfect location to head any direction on the island and has stunning views.
As an added bonus, the host had baked a lovely cake for us and left a pint of milk so we could make a brew. Great touch!
Have rebooked for next year already!

A comfy holiday home.
Beautiful views from the front and the back of this property. Comfy and warm. Upstairs bedroom not really as good as the 2 on the ground floor. Kitchen facilities excellent, with nice dining room, again lovely views both ends. Well equipped. Off road parking for my car. Convenient for a bus stop, with very good services all round island.

classic English bungalow in a fantastic location
This small holiday home is cozy and has a beautiful sea view. It is located on a main road that was closed during our stay so it was wonderfully quiet. downsides were the small double beds. the whole house ihas carpets. This can be a problem for people who are allergic.
We had a nice time.

Wonderful place for a restful stay and to explore the Isle
We enjoyed a spring break with 6 of us (2 grand parents, 2 parents and 2 student-aged sons). The venue has stunning views of the sea and we enjoyed sitting out in the front garden enjoying the view. The house is cosy but well equipped.
Immediately behind the house is a steep path up to the highest downs on the Isle where you can enjoy wonderful walks.
The house has access to buses and you can also walk down to Bonchurch and Ventnor.
We enjoyed using the small telescope to study the moon while we were there.

Englefield is a well proportioned comfortable holiday let with beautiful views over the sea to the front and the downs at the back .
Bedrooms have plenty of storage and very comfy beds , kitchen and utility rooms were well equipped and the WiFi was excellent we particularly enjoyed sitting outside the front with a cup of tea taking in the views and sea air , ditto with a glass of wine !
I would have no hesitation in recommending Englefield .

Holiday home with sea views
Englefield never fails to deliver! We have been visiting this lovely property for many years and it gets better every year. This year we were thrilled to find a new shower had been installed.
Englefield provides everything you need for a home from home holiday and is ideally situated in Ventnor overlooking the sea. Many an hour is spent identifying the boats and cruise ships passing by!
There are several excellent restaurants both in Ventnor and further afield - the joy of the Isle of Wight is that nowhere is that far away!
All being well we shall be returning in 2026

Englefield
Englefield is a lovely 20s bungalow which has had some extension adding an attic room and bathroom and a utility room downstairs. We love this property and relax as soon as we enter! The views could not be surpassed - unlimited sea from the front and the Downs at the back. It has a calming atmosphere and contains everything we need. Please do not change anything!

A relaxing, quiet, trouble-free holiday
Once again Englefield did not disappoint - everything was as good as we expected, despite the road closure further along Leeson Road. This created no problems for us at all, in fact the diversions were on very scenic routes much enjoyed by us all!
The weather wasn't perfect, but when you have everything you need at the property, it did not detract from our stay.
We leave Englefied feeling relaxed and looking forward to our return visit the next year. Roll on 2025!

A home from home with a view
A spacious bungalow with a huge front view of the sea and a rear view of the Downs. On a bus route if you dont want to drive each day, and within a short walk or drive to Bonchurch Inn where we had a lovely meal. A little old fashioned in some of its fittings , but this added to its charm for us and we have never stayed in a self cater which provided so much in the way of those small but helpful bits and pieces. Beautiful walks on the doorstep. Accessibility good apart from a slope up to the property, take it steady if mobility issues.

A nice, somewhat cluttered cottage up a steep path
Terrific views from the front of the house. House up a very steep slope from the parking which is at road level. Also a number of steep steps to negotiate. Bathroom very small and the toilet not ventilated in any way. Large number of collectables throughout the house, very steep rear garden. Not suitable for people with mobility issues.

Great stay at Englefield
The best part of staying at Englefield was the view, uninterrupted sea views were perfect. These view meant that the house was up some steep steps and a steep path, it was ok for us but others with mobility problems might find this difficult.
The house itself was very nice and the most has been made with the use of space, this did mean that the downstairs loo and bathroom were small as was the kitchen although well stocked with everything you need to comfortably be able to cook proper meals. We loved the lazy susan on the dining room table.
The beds were what you expect in a holiday house, mattresses were a little hard but for some that is probably fine. The duvets on the beds were too thick for summer months (even this summer!) It would be good if alternatives were provided like a thinner quilt because the bed shams were not suitable.
The house contained interesting but rather too many (for my liking) nik naks which need to be dusted to avoid the odd cobwebs being missed.
Overall we spent a lovely week at Englefield.

Beautiful sea views
Englefield has everything we need for a relaxing break whatever the weather. This year was exceptional though as we had wall to wall sunshine for the whole week. Perfect for just sitting in the garden, reading and looking out over the sea, identifying the vessels sailing by - how much more relaxing could a holiday be?
However, if you want to venture out there is so much to do and the Island's bus service is very good if you would prefer not to use the car.
There are several places to eat locally, in particular the Bistro at London House - newly opened but the food and ambience are amazing.
The house is lovely ,a step back in time .Beautiful every thing that you need is at your finger tips .Very clean Beautiful views warm and cosy .would recommend a visit .Our holiday was brilliant in fact a must visit again trip .would recommend a walk down the long narrow steps across the road the village at the bottom is so beautiful ....Thank you

Loved it .
The cottage was in a lovely location overlooking the sea. The view was fantastic ,especially on a clear night with the full moon shining on the water. The only downside to the cottage were the steps and steep path up to the door and the low ceilings in downstairs toilet and upstairs bathroom. Excellent base for exploring the island.
Heerlijke vakantiewoning voorzien van alle gemakken.

-zeer schoon
-mooi uitzicht
-stil
Enige minpuntje zijn de bedden. De tweepersoons bedden zijn smal. Alle bedden zijn (te) kort.

A House with a View
This lovely 1920s bungalow has some of its original features and is very comfortable. We loved it! The best things about it were the views -unlimited sea from the front and straight up to the downs from the back. You are not aware of the main road below as it is in a dip. Lovely homemade Victoria Sandwich waiting for us on arrival. Food and welcome at The Bonchurch Inn also worthy of note!

2nd visit to Englefield
A great base to enjoy the island and the house provides you with everything you need. The house was clean but not to the standard of last year. The windows were filthy & there was a lot of cobwebs but the main parts of the house were immaculate.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The views are spectacular. So lucky with weather. The bungalow wAs very clean and had everything we needed. Delightful accommodation. On bus route. Quiet and peaceful.
