Great stay close to everything. Fairly spacious apartment in Le Marais not far from several metro stations, parks, and plenty of restaurants. Could be a bit loud at night with the speak easy bar below, but the apartment itself was great.

Bonjour Joseph, thank you for your comment of my flat. There's no speak easy bar below but a shoe's shop :) What happens is that, sometimes people speak loud in the street ! But a bar, no, not below.
We could not have selected a better home away from home! Location is perfect, love the Marais district. The apartment is well appointed and full of character! Will return again!
My college age children and their cousin stayed here for a few days and had a perfect experience. The location is wonderful, it was very comfortable for the three of them, and the host was very kind and very easy to work with. It was very safe and just delightful. Would certainly rent again.

Merci, Kathy, for your comments. I'm very glad that members of your family enjoyed their stay in Paris. They were great ! It was a pleasure having them.
Charming appartment, exactly as advertized, in a convenient area. Also, you don't have to transfer through Chatelet to get there from the airport (if you know, you know).
Perfectly located, cozy and comfortable... The perfect apartment for us. We'll definitely stay there again when we return to Paris!!! Thank you Pierre!

Merci Ray, you are very welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay in Paris !
Peirre's place was a perfect base from which to move about the Marais and all of central Paris. It is wonderfully high off the street too, so with great light and above the fray of traffic, yet on a fantastic street for food, coffee or a drink. You can even get real Mexican tacos just three doors down!

Merci, Edward. I haven't tried the tacos yet ! Thank you for the tip :) I'm glad you enjoyed your stay
This was the BEST location ever. The apartment is adorable. My 87 year old grandma slept in the bedroom and I slept in the twin bed in the living room. We both slept very well! The apartment is 5 flights up which was definitely difficult for my grandma, but we managed just fine. But truly, the location couldn’t be beat.
Great location. The carpets/bedding/duvets could use a deep clean. Allergic to dust and it was not good.

Hello Mitchell, duvets and sheets have been cleaned at 60 % which is what is recommended. Since you mention cleanliness, we would have appreciated that you don't leave your dustbin in the flat (you are the only person recently who has done such a thing ), not to mention some washing up of dishes that you did not do. it was not good.
Wonderful apartment in Paris for spending a week in the beautiful city
The apartment had everything we needed to be comfortable, and to prepare meals in our apartment. The location was absolutely the best. Across the street we had a bakery and a butcher shop and a wonderful grocery store. Coffee shops were on either side of us, and the metro station was only two blocks away and took us anywhere we wanted to go. we were greeted on arrival and found everything to be as expected. In addition to this, there was a parking garage less than one block away for us to park our car and have access to it whenever we needed it. The best recommendation that I can give is that we’re planning to spend another week there this coming December .

Merci, Charles, I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay in beautiful Marais. We are luc ky to have great shops, and also a nice atmosphere. I've lived here for more than 4 decades, it has channged but to the best. I never tried the butcher's, though. I will, after reading your mentionning it. Welcome for next December. Kind regards, Pierre
The apartment was exactly as described, and very lovely. The location was great, convenient to the Metro and in a nice part of town. We stayed there during a record setting heat wave in France, but the ability to open windows on both sides of the apartment meant it cooled off at night (in Paris, as in most of northern Europe, pretty much nothing is air conditioned).. The only caution I would give is that it is five flights of stairs up, so if you have any difficulty with stairs, this is not the place for you. For the rest, it’s good exercise.

Merci, John. It is true that opening windows on both sides makes a big difference. I also agree for the stairs. Actually I recommend it ! It's good for the heart and compared with other buildings, the flight of stairs isn't difficult. And anyway in le Marais you hardly find lifts in ol, traditional buildings. It's only in modern buildings that you'll find an elevator. But then, you won't have the same atmosphere... A matter of choice :-)
Good price, good location, nice apartment on the 5th floor
The apartment is very spacious considering the reasonableness of the cost per night. There is a kitchen/laundry area, a good size living room, bedroom and bath. Bed is very comfortable. The neighborhood is safe and quiet. It is 5 flights up with no elevator, so if you tend to go back and forth to your apartment frequently during the day you will do a lot of climbing. I tended to leave in the morning and come back at the end of the day, and I am in good shape, so it was not a big issue for me. A few tips: the fruit stand right around the corner is great--very fresh and reasonable and friendly. The empanada restaurant just down the street is great for a quick bite or a late meal. Very reasonable and tasty. Very friendly. There is an Italian food shop just around the corner where you can buy things to bring home and heat up in the microwave--again very reasonable, and tasty.
If you are okay with the old world (dusty/moldy) feel of Shabby Chic, this place is a good fit for you. Think Shabby Chic...shabby apartment....in need of some TLC in a fantastic neighborhood.
Price was perfectly reasonable...Pierre/Marie were very professional and easy to deal with. really no problems at all.
Except the apartment smells like mold. Ifbyou have any sort of allergy, this would be a problem. The pictures are accurate, but of course you can't smell a place based on the pictures.
So. Just a word of caution. If you're sensitive to smells....the moldy smell was significant.

Hello, thank you for staying in my flat and the compliments for Maria and me. Maybe you already have an allergy problem ? Sorry about that. I'm currently living in my flat. Does it smell like mold ? I don't think so. The atmosphere is dry and clean. Maybe a five star hotel would suit you, even though, in Paris you can't be sure of anything, that's why people like it here :) This old world you mention is Paris itself and maybe it's not meant for some people. I don't think It has to do with a smell but rather with an attitude to another, different world. Can it be the case ? Some of us, coming from another continent, are so sensitive. We are even able to create a smell that does not exist, or if it does, it is minor and the simple fact of opening the window has a chance to repair it. And last, I don't think I need my flat to look like a new one, sorry about that, it's not what I like. Shabby chic, really ? Oh well, what matters is the word chic, after all ! Paintings are new, one day you will explain what you mean, it's not clear to me, I'm afraid. But maybe it's just an American point of view ? Ah I got it now.
We felt at home almost immediately. But we felt like Parisians at home in the cozy, fascinating, hip Marais.
Just steps from the rue de Bretagne were multiple boulangeries/patisseries, cafe/restaurants, tasty delis, mouthwatering fruit and veggie markets, wine shops, and various other shops. All very French, including the Japanese Sushi place and the Thai restaurant.
A couple of short blocks one way and you can turn on rue Vielle du Temple, which plunges into the ancient Marais, past magnificent 'hotels particuliers,' exquisite urban gardens, museums and ultra-chic shops.
Head the other ways and there are more gardens, landmarks, shops, and places to drink, eat, sit and talk, or read, or gaze at the passers by, who tend to be young and attractive, often jabbering and smiling, etc. at each other.
And there's the built-in exercise program of climbing up and down five flights of old, wonderfully crafted wooden stairs.
Inside: lots of light, lots of cross-ventilating windows that allow the fresh breeze to waft through, a very functional kitchen, interesting furniture, dishes, lamps, etc. Quiet but with some street sounds that we found were not too loud and generally were pleasant reminders of where we were. Interesting apartments across the street, one with an abudant terrace garden and attentive, albeit ancient owner.
'Tout pour plaire.'

Thanks, Steve, for this great review. You said it all. It's a fascinating district, I've lived there since I was 13. It has changed, of course, but the spirit remains. You can't change the spirit with just luxury shops. Something important remains, and that's what I myself like. I'm glad you saw it in that light.
Full of personality, this charming garret apartment in the Marais district was a perfect and very clean and comfortable base for our whirlwind trip to Paris. It is located on a quiet street but just steps away from many wonderful restaurants and cafes, art galleries, bakeries, and other shops. We loved all the art on the walls, the shelves of books, and the beautiful textiles! There are big windows that open to a quintessential view of a pretty Paris neighborhood. We would return in a heartbeat!
Great little apartment on the fifth floor. No elevator so brace yourself for stairs! This is clearly a home which I really loved. Just everything you could need. The location is incredible, lots of great stores, restaurants, cafes nearby, as well as the metro. Would definitely stay here again! Merci Pierre!

This was a fabulous apartment in a convenient location. I would love to stay again!

I'm a writer and I've lived in Paris almost all my life. And in the Marais, in particular, where my parents used to live as well. It's like a village. It has changed over the years, but I continue to love it.
What makes this property unique
It's a very pleasant place to stay. Because of sunshine. And quietness.
