About this property

Acadia SummerHill Log Cabin-charmingly unique, cozy and quiet, a true hidden gem

Our log cabin is located in a quaint coastal fishing village on the northern coast of Maine; a haven for photographers, hikers, cyclists, kayakers, birders, golfers, and explorers. It is often described as a "hidden gem".
Our cabin is unique and allows you to feel like you are truly away from your busy lifestyles. It accommodates 2 adults/ 1 child with a queen bed and double bed in the loft. We like to consider our cabin as "basecamp" for all of your adventures while here in Maine...the cabin is a comfortable place to "hang your hat" after a day spent outdoors. The cabin is very clean and simple and private, and allows you to feel the character of Maine.
It is a perfect cabin for an active couple looking to explore the outdoors of Maine during the day, and return to a quiet cabin at night.
We encourage you to sit by the outdoor fire at night, and listen to the ocean hit the rocky coast in the distance. We also recommend a walk to the harbor at sunrise to watch the working lobstermen and to view the beautiful sunrises. Acadia National Park (Schoodic Peninsula) is a short 10 minute drive from the cabin and provides breathtaking views of Cadillac Mtn. This is the quiet section of Acadia National Park. Bar Harbor is a 50 min drive. All sections of Acadia are well-known for hiking, biking, kayaking, whale watching, or just enjoying a quiet picnic by the ocean. All of this is just minutes from the cabin. Or you can simply relax on the porch of the cabin and listen to birds while reading a favorite book. Life is simple in Corea by the sea, and we hope that you will come to visit us and truly have an enjoyable vacation.
The owner, Bea, was born in Bar Harbor, and she appreciates her unique property and enjoys providing you with all of the local knowledge you need, and she will make sure that you are enjoying your stay. After all, this is her special homestead... she welcomes all happy people!

Really nice cabin in a quiet neighborhood

Kim has a great little get-a-way on one of Maine's beautiful peninsulas. This one happens to be very near the Schoodic part of Acadia National Park - Schoodic is the quiet part - at least so far. We chose her cabin due to the proximity to a number of wonderful natural refuges and preserves. In spite of less than ideal weather, we really enjoyed a number of short hikes that are very close by.The cabin had most of what we needed to be comfortable although the loft stairs and low loft ceiling took a bit of getting used to and care when moving around - but we knew that from earlier reviews.Kim was very responsive and caring offering to bring over a space heater on a particularly unseasonably cold night. We were able to enjoy the wonderful quiet on the deck on our last evening when the rain let up.
Walk to this beautiful working harbor minutes from the cabin.
Taft Point Preserve, a short drive from the cabin.

Attractive home, lovely hostess

Nice feel inside with pine paneling and comfortable furniture. One caution might be the stairs to the loft for older folks. Good beds and bathroom. Helpful information inside the cabin for local activities and sights. Very quiet neighborhood and close to the Corea Harbor.

This sweet cabin was everything we thought it would be and more! Check-in was a breeze, as we got there late Sunday, all we had to do was open the door and walk right in. The kitchen had everything we needed, all the utensils, a drip coffee machine, wine glasses, ice trays, anything you’d need to make a meal there. The bathroom was stocked with extra towels and squeaky clean! There is the perfect dining area that allows you to see directly outside on the cabin into the woods. The living room was super cozy, with plenty of sitting space, dvds, dvd player and board games! The sleeping space was warm, cozy and nostalgic, like sleeping in a treehouse. In the bed we slept in, you had the perfect view out into the harbor and you could see the moon & stars. We really enjoyed the outside fire pit which is where we spent a couple nights after our fun filled days. There is a sweet hidden beach down the road which we also explored. People in town that we encountered were very friendly and helpful to give us suggestions on the spots to go. Kim was an exceptional host who stayed in contact with me the whole time to make sure I had all that I needed! We loved this place and we can’t wait to go back!!

Beautiful, Quiet Location

This was the perfect spot for exploring coastal Maine! We had a wonderful time visiting different areas, and it was great to return here each day to enjoy the beauty and tranquility. We cooked lobsters twice, took a trip to Canada, and visited or viewed over a dozen lighthouses. We also indulged in delicious blueberry treats and picked our own blueberries. Having access to different streaming services was a nice touch, and the well-equipped kitchen made our stay even more comfortable. It was an unforgettable experience, and we truly enjoyed every moment.

We loved our stay at Corea cabin. Very quiet, and a short walk to Bell Buoy where we had the best lobster meal of our trip (make sure to get there early, they close at 5PM!). Lots of games and puzzles in the cabin; we spent our time completing a 1000 piece puzzle while enjoying football on the smart tv (streaming worked without any issue!) One point not disclosed in the listing: the stove / oven doesn’t work! There are notices once inside the cabin, but we did have to use the side burner on the grill outside. Please be aware when purchasing groceries! We use our vacations as a time to cook when we don’t normally have time to, so the lack of oven / stove was a bigger deal for us. Overall lovely stay and a great location to disconnect from the rest of the world. We loved the quietness of the Schoodic Peninsula.

We enjoyed our stay in this cabin. Everything was as described on the VRBO listing, so the low ceilings and iron-rich water didn’t come as a surprise. The gas range was broken during our stay, which was a bit inconvenient, but we were able to use the outdoor grill instead. The cabin also had a crockpot, microwave, toaster oven, and tea/coffee maker, so we managed to figure out how to cook. The fridge is quite small (as noted in the listing), so don’t overshop—it’s best to buy food for just 2–3 days at a time.We requested an electric kettle and a hairdryer (both were listed in the description but weren’t in the cabin when we arrived), and the host brought them the same day, which we appreciated. This was our first time staying in this cabin, but our second time visiting the Schoodic Peninsula. We love spending time in this part of Acadia—it’s less crowded and has more parking. We enjoy hiking, biking, and simply relaxing at Schoodic Point, watching sea lions and sunsets. We also loved that the cabin has a fire pit—ending the day with an evening fire was a perfect way to unwind after spending time outdoors. One suggestion: it would be great to have a sun umbrella on the porch to make the sunny area more enjoyable during the day.

Fantastic

Perfect property for anyone looking to explore this area of Maine. Very relaxing, and away from crowds. All of Kim's recommendations were spot on. We went on beautiful hikes in Acadia on the Schoodic Peninsula, went on a fabulous lobster tour in Corea and took a great whale watching tour out of Bar Harbor. We were so happy we decided to stay here instead of the Bar Harbor area. The rugged coastline was just gorgeous.

Blissfully Peaceful Oasis

This cabin is accessible, yet feels wonderfully remote. Sit on the deck to partake of the therapeutic ocean breeze combined with the warblers whistling and occasional sounds of the harbor... heavenly! Local oysters, a secret low-tide pathway to an island, an art gallery across the street - for those looking for a low-key place to unwind, this is it! The Schoodic Peninsula in total is amazing, and Kim is wonderfully hospitable in word and deed!
Joe's Fresh Farmed Oysters in the shell, right around the corner!
Shhhh... a path to a beach, hit it at low tide to explore Bar Island!
