About this property
An elegant Craftsman's house with a modern garden studio and a huge backyard
This is a unique and ideal property for a cozy and comfortable summer stay in Berkeley. It combines a large classic 1920’s California Craftsman house with a modern garden studio. Home of an architect and a photographer, you will enjoy a spacious house filled with art and books in the main house and the cozy private studio facing the large garden. Everything for a comfortable and quiet stay is right there. Local food markets, parks & public transportation to UCB and SF are just down the street.
This is a unique property that rarely comes on the market. Ideal for an extended summer stay, this is the perfect place for up to 4 people looking for comfort, privacy and closeness to the best that Berkeley and the Bay Area can offer.
We are renting both our main house and the garden studio as one entire property.
The main house is a large and elegant classic 1920’s California Craftsman Bungalow. Its main features are a stately wood-paneled dining room that can sit 6 -8 people comfortably around the wooden country table, a newly remodeled kitchen that is fully equipped for gourmet cooking, an expansive living room with comfortable couches to enjoy a book from our vast selection of architecture, photography and art books, and a large light-filled master bedroom with an extra large California King, plenty of storage space, its own bathroom and private balcony overlooking the backyard. There is another full bathroom on the same floor.
From there, you descend the stairs to the private patio where you will enjoy cooking on the gas grill and dining outside on the extra long wood table.
The newly renovated garden studio is facing a beautiful garden. It has its own private entry and patio seating. This spacious and architect-designed 450 sqft studio has an inviting living space, a very comfortable sleeping area, a modern bathrooom (with a rain shower and heated towel-rack) and an efficient kitchen. All the appliances are new.
The laundry room has a washer and dryer, accessible directly from the back door of the studio.
Street parking is free and plentiful.
Our North Berkeley neighborhood is a walker and biker paradise . The Monterey Market and the Berkeley Horticultural Garden are just around the corner. The King swimming pool and tennis courts are only two short blocks away. Half a dozen parks and playgrounds are within less than 10 minutes walking time.
You can walk up to Shattuck Avenue and the heart of the famous Gourmet Ghetto. Chez Panisse, Cheeseboard pizza, the original Peet’s. Or you can stroll to Solano Avenue to enjoy shopping, dining and entertainment.
The Berkeley Marina and the Bay are a short bicycle ride away.
The UC Berkeley Campus is minutes away.
The BART North Berkeley station is 7 minutes walking distance, with an easy 25 minutes ride to downtown San Francisco.
Sorry, no pets.
No smoking.
