Excellent house, very spacious and clean. A few constructive criticism comments would make the stay perfect! we didn’t get checkin instructions so had to sit in driveway for 30 min calling and texting the homeowners to get code. The basement had a very strong chemical smell (recently cleaned carpets?) so we didn’t use the Bsmt bedrooms. No garbage bags or toilet paper but they dropped some off after requesting. Beds comfortable. Coffee maker broken. The main bathroom window needs a shade or curtain to block view from neighbors. Just a few tweaks and this would be the perfect rental!! Thank you for a nice stay.

About the host
Hosted by Hilary
From Mount Desert Island we are happy to offer up our family home for the first time to the public. Many warm family memories were made here, the land owned or generations by the same family. We have outgrown it now, as our kids are getting older, and moved to a nearby town. We own and operate a local business offering groundskeeping and housekeeping services to summer residents and locals alike.
Why they chose this property
The Hodgdon family is on the original historical register of families documented on MDI. This property was originally a dairy farm for the Hodgdon family. Passed down for generations we strive to find ways to keep it in the family for our children to inherit. This property chose us and is available to the public for a limited time.
What makes this property unique
Quiet and situated away from the hustle and bustle of towns, yet close to ponds, lakes and the ocean as well as convenience stores and shops. Cozy home with plenty of room for families to tuck in and spend quality time together, yet enough room for multiple families to find their own space. Multiple outdoor spaces, including two decks, a front lawn and lower lawn with fire pit and kid playhouse, in addition to a fenced in back yard.
