About this property

Hiker’s Retreat:Pet-Friendly Cabin in the Pines AC

Ready to "D.O." Acadia? Welcome to Davis Outpost, a premier hiker’s basecamp curated by the local experts at Acadia’s Edge. This aromatic pine-clad studio in historic Otter Creek is an intentional sanctuary designed for explorers who prioritize trail access over tourist crowds. Skip the park parking stress—you are an 8-minute walk to the Quarry Trailhead and steps from the local general store. Experience the "local’s secret" with a professional touch. Now with AC!

THE BASECAMP PHILOSOPHY
Davis Outpost is a thoughtfully designed sanctuary built around one simple idea: maximizing your time in the wild. The open-concept interior features warm aromatic pine walls and vaulted timber ceilings, creating a bright, airy atmosphere that feels like a natural extension of the Maine woods.

This is an intentional basecamp experience. The sleeping area, living space, and high-performance kitchenette are seamlessly integrated into one beautifully finished room—making it the perfect fit for a couple or solo traveler who travels light and lives for the outdoors. At the Outpost, Acadia is your true living room; the cabin is simply the premium space where you recharge, plan your next summit at the "Mission Control" desk, and fuel up for the trails.

LIVING AND ENTERTAINING
The main living area is a peaceful spot to wind down after a big day on the trails. Settle into the comfortable recliner and browse the evening's movie options on the flat-screen Roku Smart TV or spread out the map and plan tomorrow's route.

The large windows draw in the natural forest light, keeping the space feeling open and connected to the woods outside. High-speed Wi-Fi keeps you connected when you need it, though you'll likely be too busy exploring to notice!

KITCHEN AND DINING
The kitchenette is thoughtfully set up for efficient trail living, featuring a small gas stove, microwave, and a compact mini fridge that covers all the essentials for brewing morning coffee or packing a trail lunch.

For evenings when you want to enjoy a classic Maine BBQ under the trees, we provide a portable Coleman tabletop grill complete with propane canisters, which are stored inside and can be easily set up on the deck for an authentic al-fresco meal.

The versatile dining table comfortably seats two and doubles as a handy workspace for mapping out your next hike. If you need to stock up on basic provisions or trail snacks, the Otter Creek General Store is just a convenient eight-minute walk from your door.

SLEEPING AND BATHROOM
The sleeping area features a cozy double (full) bed tucked into the heart of the cabin giving you a snug, restful setup that suits the basecamp lifestyle perfectly. This is a standard Full size rather than a Queen or King, so it's best suited for a couple comfortable with a cozier sleep setup or a solo traveler.

The bathroom is a bright space with a rustic sliding barn-style door. It features a walk-in shower and a modern corner vanity along with plenty of fresh towels and quality essentials so you can wash off the trail dust and feel ready for whatever tomorrow brings.

THE PINE BREEZE ROOM (SCREENED-IN SUNROOM)
The signature Pine Breeze Room is one of the Outpost's most loved features and genuinely earns its place as the cabin's best-kept secret. This screened-in living space lets you enjoy the sights and sounds of the Maine woods in complete comfort with fresh air, birdsong, and the rustle of pines—all entirely bug-free. Whether it's a slow morning stretch, a midday rest between hikes, or a quiet relaxation as the sun drops behind the trees, this is the sanctuary you'll keep coming back to. Experience the "local’s secret" from the comfort of your own private forest retreat.

MISSION CONTROL (OFFICE & WORKSPACE)
Adventure requires a plan. Our dedicated Mission Control nook is the ultimate sunlit corner for the modern explorer. Equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi and plenty of charging ports, it’s the perfect spot to spread out your maps, download your trail data, or edit the day’s photos while the forest rustles just outside. If you must stay connected to the office, this quiet, productive space ensures you can handle business quickly so you can get back to what matters—doing Acadia.

OUTDOOR SPACES
The living space expands outdoors with a private wraparound deck, creating a seamless connection to the quiet Maine woods. This leafy area is ideal for easy al fresco evenings using the portable Coleman tabletop grill or just sitting back to enjoy some rest and relaxation under the stars.

While the property includes a partially fenced yard for added privacy within the Otter Creek community, the perimeter is not fully enclosed. This pet friendly retreat offers a rare opportunity for four legged hiking companions to enjoy the outdoors, though a leash or run is required to ensure they remain safely within the property boundaries.

The cabin also includes a private driveway with space for two vehicles, which is no small thing in a region where parking is often the single biggest stressor of an Acadia vacation.

Why they chose this property

THE ONLY VILLAGE ENTIRELY WITHIN ACADIA
Here is our favorite local secret: Otter Creek is the only village on Mount Desert Island that is 100% surrounded by Acadia National Park. When you stay at Davis Outpost, you aren’t just "near" the park—you are living in an exclusive island of private land nestled entirely within the park’s boundaries.

THE DOORSTEP ADVANTAGE
Step out your front door and you are an eight-minute walk from the Quarry Trail and the vast, interconnected Acadia trail network. This is a true hiker’s basecamp—a bright, aromatic pine sanctuary designed specifically for travelers who want to trade screen time for trail time.

THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
Enjoy the deep, pine-scented silence of the Maine woods while staying only ten minutes from the fine dining and coastal charm of downtown Bar Harbor. Skip the traffic, ignore the parking meters, and start your summit from your own private forest retreat. Come "DO" Acadia from the inside out.

What makes this property unique

THE PINE BREEZE ROOM: Our signature screened-in sanctuary is the cabin’s crown jewel. Immerse yourself in the scent of the pines and the sound of birdsong in complete, bug-free comfort—the ultimate spot for morning yoga or a well-earned post-hike brew.

STRESS-FREE PARKING: We provide private driveway parking for two vehicles. In a region where parking is the #1 vacation stressor, having a guaranteed spot at your front door is a true Maine luxury.

THE ISLAND EXPLORER: Leave the keys behind! You are just a short stroll from the free seasonal Island Explorer shuttle. This "local's secret" connects you to the entire island, allowing you to bypass traffic and trailhead congestion entirely.

THE BASECAMP EXPERIENCE: Trade "cramped" for intentional. With vaulted timber ceilings and aromatic pine walls, the Outpost feels like a modern, elevated treehouse curated for maximum efficiency and deep relaxation.

PET-FRIENDLY ADVENTURE: At Davis Outpost, we believe the best hikes include four paws. We are proudly pet-friendly, ensuring your hiking companion can enjoy the fresh mountain air right alongside you.
