About this property

Oceanfront Maine Acadia Cottage

Welcome to Tidal Ledge, a secluded oceanfront cottage overlooking the waters of Frenchman Bay in Hancock, Maine.

With its contemporary Atlantic seacoast design, Tidal Ledge blends beautifully into the surrounding Maine landscape. Floor-to-ceiling glass across the main living area provides spectacular 180-degree views of the water and brings the beauty of the coast into nearly every moment of your stay.

Your Own Piece of the Maine Coast

Mornings at Tidal Ledge are best started with a cup of coffee and a walk down to the shoreline. Spend the afternoon exploring Acadia and the Downeast coast, then return home to relax by the water as the tide rolls in.

As evening falls, gather around the oceanside fire pit and look up — on a clear night, the dark Maine sky offers incredible views of the stars and Milky Way.

Tidal Ledge borders a nature preserve, making wildlife part of the experience. Bald eagles, harbor seals and a wonderful variety of coastal birds are frequent visitors, often visible right from the lawn.

And if you're here in July or August, keep an eye out for the wild Maine blueberries growing on the property — perfect for your morning pancakes.

Comfortable, Thoughtful & Easy

Tidal Ledge is designed for guests who appreciate the character of a Maine cottage without giving up the comforts of home.

The single-level layout includes two spacious bedrooms — one with a king bed and the second with a queen — along with one full bathroom.

The home is thoughtfully appointed with a fully equipped kitchen, luxurious Turkish bath towels, high-thread-count linens, washer and dryer, strong Wi-Fi and a 75-inch television with Roku streaming.

On those wonderfully cool Maine evenings, settle in by the gas-log fireplace and enjoy the view.

Close to Acadia — Away From the Crowds

Tidal Ledge offers the best of both worlds: easy access to Acadia National Park, Mount Desert Island, Bar Harbor, Ellsworth and the Schoodic Peninsula, while providing a peaceful waterfront setting away from the busiest tourist areas.

Spend your days hiking Acadia, exploring coastal villages, visiting local lobster pounds or discovering the quieter corners of Downeast Maine.

Then come home to Tidal Ledge, where the water, wildlife and changing tides provide the entertainment.

A Few Important Details

Tidal Ledge is best suited for adults and families with children age 16 and older due to the home's proximity to the ocean and elevated decks.

To maintain the condition of our home and for the comfort of all guests, pets are not permitted under any circumstances.

Tidal Ledge isn't a resort — and that's exactly the point.

It's a place for morning coffee by the water, lobster dinners, blueberry pancakes, days spent exploring Acadia and long summer evenings around the fire.

Come experience the beauty of the Maine coast and make Tidal Ledge your home by the sea for a little while.

My family is originally from the Boston area and have been vacationing in Maine for 25 years. We moved to the Southeast (Florida and then Georgia) and in 2016 decided to begin looking for a second home in Maine. We love the Downeast of Maine for its raw and rugged landscape and wildlife.

We spend a good bit of time with our family at the home, but in times we aren’t in Maine we have decided to open our cottage for others to experience what we love so much.

Why they chose this property

Our home sits on a nature preserve that is entirely unique to Maine and the area. There are only six reversing falls in Maine, and our home sits in full view of one of the largest in Maine.

The reversing falls must be experienced to appreciate, but there is abundant wildlife that use the falls as their feeding ground. With a low tide and full moon the waters in back of the cottage turn into class 3 and 4 rapids. It is quite the experience. There is an Eagles nest nearby and they are frequent visitors to the back lawn waiting to spot a fish in the water. The Harbor Seals in the Summer months will frequent up close to the shoreline.

There are fox, porcupine, deer, black bear, and bobcat in the area that frequent us.

What makes this property unique

The most unique aspect of our home are all the comforts of the cottage and the pure ruggedness of the Maine coast which lies just outside.
