About this property

Secluded Home Offers Water Access, Stunning Harbor and Island Views

Adirondack style architecture with a large deck overlooking a protected harbor and a private island. This is two story house with two bedrooms and full bath on the second floor and the master bedroom and full bath on the first floor. The first floor was remodeled this past year and the bedroom/bathroom/laundry area were added in the old garage space. The new master bedroom has a fabulous view of the seal rocks to the north of the private island when you are sitting in bed or in the seating area. The galley kitchen and living area are in an open space on the first floor. There is a flat screen TV with a DVD player. There is cable at this time. There is a built in dining area on the first floor as well. The master bedroom is large and has king size bed. The second bedroom upstairs includes a bunk bed and two twin beds. The third bedroom includes a queen size bed. There is also a large wood burning stove perfect for Spring and Fall visitors The back deck is the highlight of The Carriage House. It is right on the water and the views are stunning.

The house is connected to small garage. Family members who are staying in another building on the property will also have access to that garage during your stay. You will also be sharing parking with those family members as well.

Extremely quiet surroundings, at end of a long drive belonging to Green Island. You'll have access to a launch area at the end of the drive to put in a kayak or canoe. The area is perfect for paddling around and exploring. There are two small islands to visit for a picnic or a swim, a colony of seals to watch (please try to respect their space and stay ~150 feet away) and if your lucky Bald Eagles and Opreys nesting and hunting in the area. This side of Mount Desert is often sunny when other parts are fog bound. The water is warmer here and more calm. Perfect for Kayaks and canoes.

Green Island
I enjoyed every minute of my stay at the carriage house at green island. The location was very remote and relaxing with the only neighbor tucked behind thick trees. Good nature watching with the seals napping on the nearby rocks - the breakfast nook and patio overhanging the water were perfect for reading and enjoying the spectacular views (especially the sunsets). The new main bedroom addition + bathroom were very well done and the bed was so comfortable - I slept so well my whole stay. Kitchen was well stocked with everything you'd need (fresh fish and lobster were sold about 15 minutes away at Parsons Lobster). Very convenient to all Mount Desert Island has to offer.

The Carriage House is the best.
As ever, we totally enjoyed our stay at the Carriage House. There's nothing better than sitting on the deck in the absolute silence broken only by the far-off barking of seals lounging on the offshore rocks at low tide. The house is well-equipped, the beds are comfortable, and the new bedroom and walk-in shower are delightful. We'll be back next year.

Secluded Serenity
The house and grounds were beautiful, down an exciting winding road. It was everything we were looking for, with numerous nice touches. The master bedroom area was delightful, and we all appreciated the wood stove! Perhaps most of all, I liked the back deck, where I spent quite some time in contemplation, in the company of seals, loons and cormorants. We had a few questions, but those were effectively answered and taken care of by the property manager. All in all, a beautiful place!
